Review: MUA Pro Going For Gold Eye Palette!

This is easily my favourite palette by MUA.... Yet! To celebrate the Olympics MUA introduced a limited edition eyeshadow palette. The same as the other palettes, this costs £4 from Superdrug or you can purchase it from the MUA website here. At the moment it's on offer, with a £1 off.

Unlike the other MUA palettes, this one has square pans and only 10 shades, unlike the usual 12 circle pans.

 First Row, Shades 1-5

Second Row, Shades 6-10

Likewise all the other MUA Pro palettes, the pigmentation is fantastic, not something you would really expect from a £4 drugstore palette. The matte shades of the palette, are slightly less pigmented, yet they are still easily build able which I love! They are sooo creamy to swatch, apply and blend together with ease. This palette is mainly pearl based with the odd matte thrown into the mix, however the shimmer on some of the pearl shades is hard to believe. Shade 5 is a mix of yellow/orange/gold and is EXTREMELY shimmery.

I can usually get a full day of wear out of these eye shadows alongside primer, without they crease slightly by the end of the day, but still remain their vibrant colour. Likewise the other palettes you get a little double ended sponge applicator, which I only ever use for Nail Art. The packaging of the palette is black plastic with a transparent lid, making the eye shadows within visible.

Overall I would definitely recommend giving this palette a go! For £4 it's totally worth a try, especially if your a Gold lover like me. I love wearing Golds near the end of Summer into fall.

Review: Seche Vite Dry Fast Topcoat!

Since I'm quite a big fan of nail art, I love to be able to keep my designs as long lasting as possible. That's when a good Topcoat comes in. I've tried a few Topcoats now, but to be honest none of them have been very good. I took the plunge and purchased this one, despite the pretty hefty price tag. This Topcoat cost roughly between £9-£10, it doesn't say on the Boots website nor Superdrug.

In all honesty this Topcoats really not worth the price tag. Like I said the main reason I purchased this was because of the long lasting polish claims. I can usually get about a day or two with this Topcoat without chipping. I also found the colour nail polish I applied under the Topcoat to smear when I applied it. The packaging is about average, it does its job but not the most stylish.

However one thing I do like about this polish is the shine, the shine wears from when I first apply the Topcoat till when I remove it ( a week.) In a way it also bonds the polish together if you get what I mean? Like sort of making it all 1 layer. The dry time is excellent, way better then my last Sally Hansen Topcoat ( Review Here) It dries basically within seconds!

Overall I just wouldn't bother trying this Topcoat. For the price it certainly isn't worth what it is, for £9's in my opinion I would expect more then this. I might consider trying this as a Base coat instead as smoothing polish amazingly.

Thanks For Reading xxxx
Have you tried this Topcoat before? Do you have any Topcoat's you'd recommend, let me know below :)

Random Mini Haul: Owl Ear Rings & MUA Pro Gel Eyeliner!

So since I haven't been blogging alot lately I thought I may as well through up a Haul post. Also as this Haul has something none makeup/nail related in it which I think I would like to focus my blog slightly more on. So here's some things I picked up today in Town.

So the one beauty related thing I got was one of the new MUA Gel Eyeliner's. I was away on holiday at the time they came out so I couldn't get my hands on one. I was also after 2 of the new lip liners, but sadly my Superdrug had none in stock. Nor did they have the space for them. So anyways I picked up this Gel Eyeliner in shade Tribe, it's a bright electric blue shade. I love bright Eyeliners! This Gel Eyeliner originally costs £3 but is on offer at the moment for £2.

So this next thing is something else I'd like to base my blog around. Jewellery! I've had my ear's pierced for many years now and only recently have i started getting back into wearing ear rings. I was craving a new pair of slightly jazzy-er ear rings other then my basic studs. These are orange owls, like seriously how cute?! They were a great bargain for only £2.50 in Claire's. Here's what they look like slightly closer up.

Review: Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder!

I finally managed to solve my laptop issue's, yay! :D

About three weeks ago I purchased Rimmel's Stay Matte Pressed Powder, when my Collection 2000 one ran out. I've never looked back since! This powder cost £3.99 and is available in both Superdrug and Boots stores and can be purchased online.

I purchased mine in shade 001 Transparent.

I've only ever stuck to the same face powder maybe twice, which was the MUA one. Then I've previously been using a Collection 2000, neither of which I have completely loved like I do Rimmels. On a whole I don't really use Rimmel products much, apart from the odd nail polish or to. This powder has definitely changed my view on Rimmel as a brand!

The thing I love the most about this powder is the formula, I usually use powders in Fair or Light shades. Which ever is the lightest shade in the line. This time I opted for Transparent, after bad experience with other powders making me look orange. The shade is perfect and doesn't change the shade of other makeup under the powder. It really lives up to it's "Stay Matte" namesake, this can usually keep me looking matte for around 8 hours. I have Combination skin and I found that this powder worked real well with that.

Packaging wise you get what you pay for, after all it is a drug store product. In my experience I had no problems what so ever with the plastic packaging. The writing also hasn't flaked off the lid which I found it did with some other powders.

Overall I would definitely recommend this product as well as purchasing this again! Its perfect for my Combination skin, Normal with a few oily patches around my nose and the odd dryness on my chin. It didn't make me break out. Its available in 6 different shades and has a great drug store price tag.

New MUA Products And Seche Vite Haul!

So yesterday I went to town again. I've been dieing to pick up some of the new MUA products, and I was in desperate need of a new top coat. As my Sally Hansen one had almost run out, and the formula had gone all bad. So this is what I got...

Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat
That's right! I finally took the plunge and decided to purchase Seche Vite's famous Dry Fast top coat. If you follow me on Twitter, you would know a few months ago I was debating purchasing this one or another Sally Hansen. I'm so glad I decided on this. I used it about 30 minutes ago when I was painting my nails, so far I love it! It was £9 from Boots, which some might think is a tad to expensive for a top coat.

MUA Pro Going For Gold Eyeshadow Palette
In case you didn't know already, but you probably did, MUA have recently brought out two new eye palettes. Undressed and Going For Gold. I was torn between deciding which of the two to get first. When I couldn't find Undressed in Superdrug *Silently Crys* I thought I may swell get Going For Gold as I love gold shades with my green eyes. This was £4, likewise all the other palettes.

MUA Pro Every Lash Mascara
I'm a sucker for mascara, like I've mentioned before. I've tried every mascara in the MUA range, some of which I've loved but some not so much. So when they launched a new one, with a bendy wand, I just needed it. Stupidly enough I got the "waterproof black" one instead of just black. I wore it today, soon to be in a FOTD post, I love it! It was only £3.

Review: Simple Kind To Eyes Eye Make-up Remover!

I bought this product a few weeks ago, from Superdrug for £2, it was on offer at the time. You can see the haul post, as well as some other goodies here.

Like mentioned in my haul post, I hadn't tried any sort of eye make-up remover before this. But after reading partly mixed views on this one, I thought I'd give it a go.

Now I kinda wish I hadn't bothered at all to be honest. It removes eyeshadow, and basically all eye make-up I wear on my lid apart from mascara. Which sucks! I've tried so hard to get this product to work for me, which is why I used 1/3 of it up already. I have to rub and rub just to get off a tiny bit of mascara off my eyes, which usually results in my eyes hurting.

Apart from that I don't seem to have any other problems at all with this. Its non greasy and doesn't sting my eyes. Its non fragranced too, so its good if you have sensitive eyes. The price tag is great too.... if it actually worked.

Overall I wouldn't recommend this at all. What annoyed me the most is that on the bottle it clearly says "removes waterproof mascara" When it clearly doesn't even remove non water proof mascara. Even though I bought it for only £2, I was still expecting it to budge my mascara a little.

Review: BeautyUk Lipstick, In The Buff

So today I thought I would pop a review up on my current favourite lipstick! This was the only lip product featured in my monthly favourites, so I thought I'd share the joy which is BeautyUk Lipstick. So here we have it, in shade "In The Buff"

Here it is swatched....

Im a total sucker when it comes to pink lipsticks. So when I discovered BeautyUk's Rosy pink/ slight red tone, but fairly natural looking shade, I just had to get my paws on it! Retailing for only £3.49 from Superdrug. BeautyUk lipsticks come in either a "wet" or "matte" texture, and this is definitely a matte. Ever since Collection 2000's Cream Puff Lip Cream ( Review Here ) I've been really into matte lips.

I usally get about 3-4 hours wear out of this, but in all honesty it really depends on when you eat or drink something. I like how when the lipstick starts to wear off it doesnt bleed off the lips, it just all round fades off leaving a slight stain to the lips. Which is easily removed. One of the things I love the most about this lipstick is the minty scent it has. I love lipsticks with a nice, sweet and not over powering scent, and I also love minty scents. Its unoticeable once on the lips though. It doesn't dry out your lips, and is moisturising, not extremely moisturising but just right.

Overall I love this lipstick! It just seems like the perfect shade for my pale skin tone, and of course its matte which I love. For £3.49 your getting a great deal, a moisturising, fairly long lasting, minty lipstick. I will definitely be purchasing more lipsticks from the BeautyUk range in the coming months, next on my hit list is Cupcake, maybe?

Have you tried any of the BeautyUk Lipsticks before?:)

Review: Collection 2000 Fix Me Up Make-Up Fixer

Im a huge fan of Collection aka Collection 2000! So when they announced the release of two new products, Fix Me Up Make-UP Fixer and Primed and Ready Primer, I just had to go out and get the Make-up Fixer!

Not the best lighting, but sadly the suns gone in already where I live :(

Im obessed when it comes to keeping makeup stay on, and look good! And this certainly helps do the job, Collection recommend 3-4 sprays on the face for a guaranteed dusk till dawn perfect look. However the nozzle of which the product comes out is quite small so I had usally use around 5, also the bottle itself is quite smaller then you would imagine. Therefor I would recommend keeping this for specail occasions to help save on product.

I definitely saw a improvement in my foundation, concealer and blush with this thing! I managed to get a extra 4+ hours without any fading or patching up at all. It does have a small scent to it though, which may put some people off but you cant notice it at all once its sprayed onto your face.

After spraying onto my face, it felt sort of damp, but that soon sorted itself within a minute or two leaving me with a matte finish. Overall I would highly recommend this for specail occasions likewise weddings or birthdays, It helps makeup stay on a extra 4+ hours depending on if you spray it evenly enough. You can purchase this from Superdrug or Boots for £5.99.

Superdrug and Boots Haul!

While browsing the counters of Superdrug and Boot's today I picked up a few items...

Collection 2000 Hot looks nail polishes
Even though I already have more nail polishes then I could possibly ever need, Collection 2000's Hot Looks nail polishes caught my eye today in Superdrug. My favourite pink one, in Neon Art I think, is all dried up now and the formula's gone all gloppy. I've had it for a while now though, so I thought I'd try some more. I got shades left to right: Look At Me, Lemon Soda, Shimmy Snake, Big Hair and Blue Hawaii. I can't wait to try these out again!

Batise Dry Shampoo , Travel Size
I've been looking around on Blogger and Youtube lately for a good dry shampoo. While in Boots today I thought I'd try the Batise one in Floral and Flirty Blush. I sprayed some on my hand to smell it, well who wants to be putting something that smells horrid on their hair?! And it smelt very "fresh and clean" is the only way I can describe it. I can't wait to put this to the test after hearing amazing things about it!

MUA Lip Boom , Doin Good
Finally! I finally managed to get my hands on the other Lip Boom I wanted. I've been waiting about 2 month or something likewise. I swatched it in Superdrug and it looked gorgeous. I already own one of the Lip Booms in shade Cheeky and have a review up on. This Lip Boom is basically like MUA's shade 11 lipstick, but in Matt form with the highlighter of course. Its also one of the shades I like to call, "My lips but better."

Review: Collection 2000 Lasting Colour Gel Eyeliner

Lasting Colour Gel eyeliner is one of the new editions to the Collection 2000 range. After trying the Matt lip creams, and the powder and being impressed I thought I'd give this new product a go. The gel eyeliner comes in four shades: Black, Brown, Gold and Teal. They retail at £4.99, and are available from Superdrug and Boots.

It comes in a small box, equipped with a mini applicator.

The box has instructions on the back on how to apply it, as well as a diagram.

Here's a closer look....

Wow...

I'm so happy I decided to try this amazing new eyeliner! I've never really tired gel eyeliner before, but now I'm in love with it! This is really pigmented, and you can tell from the swatch above. That was only 1 swipe, so you don't have to keep going over it to get a more opaque finish. I only used a tiny amount too, so your getting even more for your money. Collection 2000's website claim the gel eyeliner provides 12 hour wear, however I managed to get a full day with no fading, smudging or eyeliner all over my lid. That was with eyeshadow primer though. From the appearance of the product on the eye, you wouldn't thing at all that this was a high street eyeliner!

Due to my lack of eye brushes, I thought I would try it with the applicator provided with the eyeliner. I liked the finish look it gave, and it distributed the eyeliner fairly across the lid. But I would certainly say invest in a eyeliner brush if you don't already have one. Especially if you want a thin line, and want to wing it out. Anyone recommend a good eyeliner brush?

The packaging is your classical glass pot, as you get with most gel eyeliner. The lid is plastic but still sturdy so the product stays nice and safe. I really like how Collection 2000 have concentrated on the product, rather then the packaging. As sometimes you can end up buying things just for the packaging right?

I just can't get enough of this product! And I will probably end up going out and purchasing the other 3 shades. I love everything about this product, pigmentation, lasting power, price tag and packaging. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is a fan of gel eyeliner, eyeliner or even trying out in gel eyeliner like me. It doesn't dry up in the pot either, so its definitely worth the £4.99!

Another Superdrug Haul!

Just released I do hauls almost every week ... Yes I like make up and beauty related products ;)

So I went to town today and picked up some stuff, a few things I was in need off and some I've had my eye on for a while. So here's what I got....

Please let me know what you think of the lighten in this picture.

Simple Kind To Eyes Eye Make-up Remover
This may sound ridiculous to some, but I have never tried eye make-up remover. I usually just use a make-up wipe when removing eye make-up. So today in Superdrug I thought why not? And picked up some considering it was on offer as well with 99p off, so It was only £2. I can't wait to try this out!

How freaky is this! When I was writing about that eye makeup remover the advert came on the telly and I was like woo, just thought I'd let you all know ;)

Collection 2000 Fix Me Up Make-up Fixer
This is a new product from Collection 2000, it launched in Superdrug's on Wednesday I think. Basically you do your make-up, spray some of this on your face and its supposed to make your makeup last all day. I mainly bought this to help make my foundation stay on longer, I'm super excited to try it and get a review up. As this is one of the few high street make-up setting sprays I've came across, correct me if I'm wrong.

MeMeMe Beat The Blues, Moonbeam
I've had my eyes on the MeMeMe Beat The Blues range for a while now. Except I couldn't decided weather to get Moonbeam or Sunbeam. I caved in today and bought Moonbeam, the Beat The Blue's are said to be great dupes for Benefits High beam and Moonbeam. So I'm looking forward to trying this out.

EcoTools Angled Eyeliner Brush
I've already got a few eyeliner brushes, but they aren't very good quality and don't pick up the eyeshadow very well. After reading great reviews of this brush on the Boots website and blogger, I thought I may swell give it go. I haven't tried it yet obviously, but when I took it out of the packaging thing I noticed it was soooo soft! Can't wait to try it tomorrow!

Review: Barry M Glossy Tubes

Since I've already done a review on the Barry M lip gloss wands, I thought why not do one on the glossy tubes as well?

I've got 4 of the glossy tubes, they are available from Superdrug or Boots for £3.99 and are available in 9 different shades.

Left to Right: Buzz ( freebie from fabulous magazine a while ago), 1 Pink Sparkle, 4 Matt Pink, 11 Passion Pink.

The shades are in the same order as above.

For the price, and what they are, these glossy tubes are great! I usually tend to go for lip gloss wands, and avoid this type of  lip gloss. As I find wands to be less messy, but with these I don't really experience any mess. You can't complain for the pigmentation you get. At first they apply sheer, but you can easily build them up with a few coats. As for staying power they last about you average 2-3 hours, but still leave a sort of stain.

Some of the colours are more wearable then others, I find 11 passion pink to be the one i wear most frequent. The shade I got free with fabulous magazine is easily a Matt Pink! Which is quite strange, because Barry M have named the 3rd shade along as Matt Pink. Were as I would of described it as more of a Matt Peach or Coral. Shade 1 Pink sparkle I find to be the most least wearable, as basically it's just a tube full of glitter. It might make a good lip highlight in the cupids bow, if you applied it lightly with a brush. Each of these lip gloss's has there own individual scent, just like the lip gloss wands. The scents smell amazing!

The formula is quite thick for a lip gloss, were as I find most other lip gloss by other brands to be thinner. Never the less these glossy tubes are still moisturising, and don't dry your lips out.

Overall these glossy tubes are great if your looking for something with great pigmentation, and a more then fair pigmentation. I really like these glossy tubes, and I'm quite tempted to purchase another one in shade Magic Green. Which is basically like the touch of magic lip paint, but in a lip gloss form.

Review: MUA Professional Eyeshadow Palette, Heaven and Earth

I know I've already reviewed a MUA palette before, but since this one was in my May favourites and I've been using it so much lately I thought I may swell do a review on it. Also I've been messing about with my lighting lately, let me know what you think of it the comments box.

The Heaven and Earth palette has got to be the most popular palette in the MUA range at the moment, in my opinion. Available from selected Superdrug stores , and the MUA website. The Heaven and Earth palette costs a small £4's!

Now lets take a closer look at what holds within....

With light...

Without...

MUA Says:
"A beautiful collection of eyeshadows that will enhance your eyes to give the perfect natural look."

Swatches! 1st Row...

 2nd Row...

As I've mentioned thousands and thousands of times before MUA eyeshadows are absolute amazing quality, compared to higher end eyeshadow as well as other high street brands. The pigmentation is amazing, the eyeshadows are all pearl/shimmer but not overpowering shimmer. They blend out very easy, the formula itself is quite buttery and creamy.

The lasting power is fantastic alongside primer, however primer isn't a necessity with these shadows. The packaging is like all other MUA pro palettes black plastic, sturdy, see through lid,  but does its job. It doesn't look high end, yet at the same time it doesn't look really cheap. It stands out from other palettes due to its see through lid making the eyeshadows easily visible.

There is a great range of eyeshadows to choose from in the palette, from bronze to pale beige to dark browns. This palette has everything a neutral eye lover will need! If you like this palette, then you will love MUA's new eyeshadow palette, Undressed , which is yet to be launched in July. And is already set to be a Urban Decay Naked dupe, due to the shades and name. Here's a picture of the undressed palette...

Anyways, overall I would definitely recommend the Heaven and Earth palette to anyone! I wasn't a neutral eye lover at all before this palette, but now I love them! The quality is fantastic, which you cant complain about all at. You get what you pay for packaging wise, but it does its job. The Heaven and Earth Palette, and MUA's Glamour Days Palette are probably my most favourite in my collection. And I will definitely be purchasing the new Undressed palette in July.

Superdrug Haul!

This is stuff that I've bought over two days, some on Thursday and Saturday. So here's what I got.

Glamour Magazine Freebie
So as most of you already know, but some may not. This month you get a free benefit sample when you purchase Glamour Magazine, there's 3 different samples to choose from. You can choose from:

  • Bad Gal Mascara worth £10
  • That Gal (primer) worth £15
  • The Porefessional worth £10
I choose the Porefessional after hearing amazing things about it, and being sucked in about the cute packaging. Words can't describe how amazing this primer actually is! I love the finish it leaves on the skin, it's like no product I've ever tried before.

Carmex Pot
If you read my review on the Carmex Strawberry Tube, you would know that I noticed the product run out very quickly. I still haven't ran out but thought it would be a good idea to have a back up just in case. I decided to try the pot type this time, I couldn't find the strawberry one so I just got the original. So far I'm not to keen on the smell, but I'm yet to try it out.

MUA Snow White Eyeliner and MUA Pro Face Primer
I thought I'd write about these to products together as they are both things I'm either running really low on, or have ran out. The eyeliner has become part of my daily makeup routine, due to the amazing pigmentation and staying power. As for the Face Primer I'm more then happy with and use it as my daily face primer under foundation, and recently ran out.

Sally Hansen Nail Polish Remover
Once again another product I've tried and tested, this is my 3rd bottle and this thing has never let me down yet! It removes the nail polish fast and easy. However more swipes are needed for glitter nail polish.

Fashionista Blush, Butterscotch
After hearing about Fashionista's new merged blush I was desperate to pick up the lightest shade. Sadly I couldn't find them in either of my 2 local Superdrugs so I thought I would try Butterscotch instead.

Review: MUA Professional Lip Boom with Alexandra Burke

I've so been looking forward to reviewing this product, I've got tones of positive things to say about this amazing holy grail product! I'm a bit late on reviewing it, but in case you don't know already MUA Pro Lip Booms are new to the MUA range, and were created with Alexandra Burke. They are £3 and come in 8 different shades, you can get them from Superdrug or the MUA website. I've got this little beauty in shade, Cheeky.

Lip Boom is basically a double ended lip product, it consists of a matte lipstick and a highlighting lip gloss

The lipstick is pale pink, and the highlighting lip gloss it slightly darker, but doesn't appear so as much on the lips. It also has chunks of glitter in.

One word to describe this Lip Boom is, Genius! Why hasn't anyone else ever thought of this sort of thing before?! Especially at the killer price of only £3. The lipstick is amazingly pigmented, likewise the lipsticks in the £1 range. However its also build able, so if you wanted to you could really pack on the colour. The highlighting lip gloss is the perfect match for the lipstick, I find applying this really gives that extra kick to the whole look. The highlighting lip gloss is quite gritty, but i wouldn't say it was overwhelmingly gritty. And did I forget to mention both the lipstick and lip gloss smell just like vanilla! However you can't smell it when its on the lips.

You can get four looks out of one lip boom:
  1. Lipstick alone for a matte look.
  2. Lipstick with highlighter applied just to the centre of your lips to create a full volume illusion.
  3. Lipstick with highlighter all over for a super-glossy look.
  4. Highlighter alone for a sheer pearl finish.
My favourite is either the highlighter alone, or the lipstick and highlighter applied all over the lips. So this Lip Boom really is a versatile product! Lasting power wise , I can get around 2-4 hours out of this. Which is way more then you could ask for considering the pricetag!

Overall I would recommend this Lip Boom to anyone who's a fan of lipstick! It also looks great on pale skinned girls, which from my experience is hard to find a lipstick that truly looks good with my skin tone. For the price you can't go wrong and out of 8 dazzling shades, I'm sure theres something for everyone! I've used this product everyday since I purchased it and I love it!

Review: MUA Single Eyeshadows!

I thought I'd so another post on MUA eyeshadows, since I love MUA eyeshadows so much and in my opinion the best on the market. I've got 10 of the single eyeshadows, I had a few more but i hit pan so here's the MUA eyeshadows I now own.

Top Row Shades Left to Right: 1, 3, 4, 5, 6,
Bottom Row Shades Left to Right: 7, 9, 11, 16, 26

Here's a closer look with the lids off.

Top Row Swatches!

 Left to Right: 1, 3, 4, 5, 6,

Bottom Row Swatches!

Left to Right: 7, 9, 11, 16, 26

Wow.

Quality and price tags like this make you wonder why some brands charge so much for a eyeshadow of similar size and shade. As you can tell by the pictures these eyeshadows are VERY pigmented, shade 16 on the bottom row isn't as pigmented. All these eyeshadows are pearl apart from shade 16, which is Matt. I find that the lighter Matt shades aren't as pigmented as the darker ones, but hey for £1 why complain about 1 or 2 Matt eyeshadows in the full MUA single eyeshadow range. The lasting power on these is incredible! And dare I say better then MAC! That is without a primer on both.

The packaging isn't the most fanciest in the world, but it definitely does it's job. When i was taking the photos for this post I dropped shade 7 on the floor, and it remained in perfect condition. So these eyeshadows are definitely travel friendly. I only have one complaint about the packaging and that is the doomed shaped lid, which makes them slightly tricky to store. On the back of the packaging it tells you the shade number, and formula type.

Availability wise the MUA £1 range is in most Superdrugs which i know of so there quite easy to get your hands on. You can also order off the MUA website, they've usually got an offer on as well you might be able to pick yourself up another bargain! Overall I can't recommend these eyeshadows enough! For £1 you get 2g's of highly pigmented eyeshadow with a great lasting power, what more could you ask for! No matter how long you've been into makeup, I would definitely advise you try out MUA eyeshadows as in my opinion are the best eyeshadows you can get.
