May 2012 Favourites!

Can't believe I'm actually posting my May favourites on time this month! So this is what I've been into this May.

This months favourites are:
  • MUA Pro Palette, Heaven & Earth
  • MUA Single Eyeshadow Shade 2
  • NYC City Curls Curling Mascara, Black
  • Clinique High Impact Mascara , Black
  • Clinique High Lengths Mascara , Black
  • Garnier BB Cream Sample, Light
  • Collection Lasting Perfection Powder, Light
  • MUA Love Heart Range Lip Balm, Great Lips
  • Carmex Strawberry Tube

MUA Pro Palette, Heaven & Earth
My Favourite eyeshadow palette at the moment! This palette has the perfect selection of neutral eye shadows, from light, skin toned shades, to dark browns. The eye shadows have amazing pigmentation, and a amazing staying power! I can get about 9 hours out of these without of primer, which is fantastic for a palette that only coat £4.

MUA Single Eyeshadow Shade 2
I'm loving this shade at the moment! I needed a new highlighter as my previous one was in a palette and it was a pain pulling the whole palette out everyday just for one eyeshadow. I love this as a highlighter though! It has great staying power, likewise the other eye shadows in the MUA range, and amazing pigmentation. For the killer price of a £1, what more could you want?

Clinique High Impact & High Length Mascara's
I wanted to talk about these two together, as I only ever use them together. High Lengths is easily the best lengthening mascara I've ever used, and really gives your lashes maximum length! High Impact finishes the whole look off, it adds great volume. And basically does what it says on the tube.

NYC City Curls Curling Mascara
This mascara was in my April favourites, but I still haven't found a mascara that can top this! I just love the curl that this baby adds! I love how no matter how hard you try that it just does not clump, I wont reveal to much though as I plan on reviewing this soon.

 Garnier BB Cream Sample, Light
Finally, after two months of waiting my BB cream samples finally arrived! This is perfect for those hot few days we had last week. It moisturises really well and leaves a light-medium coverage. This is everything a good BB cream should be, my only problem being its slightly to orange for my skin even though its the lightest shade.

Collection Lasting Perfection Powder, Light
Favourite powder at the moment! It doesn't leave you powdery, and certainly isn't chalky. The packaging on this sort of reminds me of Rimmels Stay Matte, because of the clear plastic lid. The formula itself reminds me of the NYC Smooth Skin Pressed Powder, however this one has more of a yellow under tone.

MUA Love Heart Range Lip Balm, Great Lips
I haven't been into lipstick or lipgloss much because of the hot weather recently but I've been loving lip balm! Great Lips is sort of a peachy, nude colour and goes perfect with any makeup look, as well as looking natural. Its incredibly moisturising and has a lasting power of about 2-3 hours.

Carmex Strawberry Tube
I've been trying to include SPF products into my makeup routine lately, so Carmex has came in real useful with its SPF 15. Not only that but its incredibly moisturising and helps heal lips. Its a clear colour so you could wear this with anything.

Review: MUA Professional Lip Boom with Alexandra Burke

I've so been looking forward to reviewing this product, I've got tones of positive things to say about this amazing holy grail product! I'm a bit late on reviewing it, but in case you don't know already MUA Pro Lip Booms are new to the MUA range, and were created with Alexandra Burke. They are £3 and come in 8 different shades, you can get them from Superdrug or the MUA website. I've got this little beauty in shade, Cheeky.

Lip Boom is basically a double ended lip product, it consists of a matte lipstick and a highlighting lip gloss

The lipstick is pale pink, and the highlighting lip gloss it slightly darker, but doesn't appear so as much on the lips. It also has chunks of glitter in.

One word to describe this Lip Boom is, Genius! Why hasn't anyone else ever thought of this sort of thing before?! Especially at the killer price of only £3. The lipstick is amazingly pigmented, likewise the lipsticks in the £1 range. However its also build able, so if you wanted to you could really pack on the colour. The highlighting lip gloss is the perfect match for the lipstick, I find applying this really gives that extra kick to the whole look. The highlighting lip gloss is quite gritty, but i wouldn't say it was overwhelmingly gritty. And did I forget to mention both the lipstick and lip gloss smell just like vanilla! However you can't smell it when its on the lips.

You can get four looks out of one lip boom:
  1. Lipstick alone for a matte look.
  2. Lipstick with highlighter applied just to the centre of your lips to create a full volume illusion.
  3. Lipstick with highlighter all over for a super-glossy look.
  4. Highlighter alone for a sheer pearl finish.
My favourite is either the highlighter alone, or the lipstick and highlighter applied all over the lips. So this Lip Boom really is a versatile product! Lasting power wise , I can get around 2-4 hours out of this. Which is way more then you could ask for considering the pricetag!

Overall I would recommend this Lip Boom to anyone who's a fan of lipstick! It also looks great on pale skinned girls, which from my experience is hard to find a lipstick that truly looks good with my skin tone. For the price you can't go wrong and out of 8 dazzling shades, I'm sure theres something for everyone! I've used this product everyday since I purchased it and I love it!

Monthly Empties - May 2012

I've never done a Monthly Empties post before, but have seen them popping up a lot on beauty blogs recently I thought I might start doing them. I've only got 3 things this month, not as much as other posts but hey better then nothing.

  • Skin Therapy Makeup Wipes   These definitely aren't my most favourite makeup wipes I've tried, and I certainly won't be repurchasing these. I was running low on makeup wipes a few weeks ago, so when my mum was in Wilkinson's she picked up these for me. They don't remove any kind of makeup well at all, they usually tend to smear it around. They are quite dry, more tissue like if I'm honest. So you have to use 2-3 of these to remove a full face of makeup were as I would normally use one. Quite cheap pricetag, but still not worth it.

  • Nivea Soft Moisturising Cream  I love this moisturiser for night time! It works perfect for dry skin, which i used to have. Mines in the tub container, which some may think is unhygienic, but I really like as you get 250ml which usually lasts me 6-12 months. This is my second tub I've used and I'm onto my 3rd now. It keeps your skin moisturised for ages, but the only problem is it makes the skin look shiny. Which is why i mainly use this as a night time moisturiser.

  • MUA Professional Face Primer   I did a review on this a while ago, and as i mentioned I love this product! I'm in desperate need if picking a new one of these up, which I will probably do the next time I'm in Superdrug. It helps liquid face makeup last longer, and minimises pores. The best part being its only £4. You can check out my review for more information on this amazing product!

Review: Avon Super Shock Mascara

Since I don't post mascara reviews very often I thought I'd rattle one up on Avon's SuperShock Mascara. I didn't buy this myself, I got it for my birthday from a friend but as you can tell buy the name you can buy it from the Avon. I'm not sure on how much though.

Shade "Black" but camera wouldn't focus.

Length wise the wand is quite short in my opinion.

Short, straight bristles closely grouped together.

Before mascara....

After mascara!

I like the packaging on this product, its simple yet decorative with a flowery pattern on the tube. However it still does it's job of keeping the mascara safe, doesn't feel cheap, and looks professional. I'm a big fan of the wand on this mascara, as I often find that big wands really do boast my lashes. The wand consists of short straight bristles closely grouped together, and helps you get to the very root of your lashes.  The wand prevents you from using this mascara on your bottom lashes, as its very big and you risk getting mascara all under your eye.

I sort of have a love-hate relationship with this product, I find that the formula works great with my outer lashes and really does boast them and add volume. Hence the name "Super Shock". However I find that it does little for my inner lashes. The formula gives you lashes a definite coat of black mascara, as well as giving your upper lashes the natural day time look. It doesn't really thicken your eyelashes much, but I love to layer this with other mascaras! It dries really quickly, so is great if you like to wear more then 1 mascara like me.

Overall I would recommend this mascara to anyone who is a fan of layering mascara, as I find it gives a great boast to the lashes and doesn't clump at all! So you won't end up walking around like some sort of panda all day. Its great if you want a natural day time look for work or school, and can be easily layered up with other mascaras or this one, to create a slightly more dramatic evening look.

Review: MUA Single Eyeshadows!

I thought I'd so another post on MUA eyeshadows, since I love MUA eyeshadows so much and in my opinion the best on the market. I've got 10 of the single eyeshadows, I had a few more but i hit pan so here's the MUA eyeshadows I now own.

Top Row Shades Left to Right: 1, 3, 4, 5, 6,
Bottom Row Shades Left to Right: 7, 9, 11, 16, 26

Here's a closer look with the lids off.

Top Row Swatches!

 Left to Right: 1, 3, 4, 5, 6,

Bottom Row Swatches!

Left to Right: 7, 9, 11, 16, 26

Wow.

Quality and price tags like this make you wonder why some brands charge so much for a eyeshadow of similar size and shade. As you can tell by the pictures these eyeshadows are VERY pigmented, shade 16 on the bottom row isn't as pigmented. All these eyeshadows are pearl apart from shade 16, which is Matt. I find that the lighter Matt shades aren't as pigmented as the darker ones, but hey for £1 why complain about 1 or 2 Matt eyeshadows in the full MUA single eyeshadow range. The lasting power on these is incredible! And dare I say better then MAC! That is without a primer on both.

The packaging isn't the most fanciest in the world, but it definitely does it's job. When i was taking the photos for this post I dropped shade 7 on the floor, and it remained in perfect condition. So these eyeshadows are definitely travel friendly. I only have one complaint about the packaging and that is the doomed shaped lid, which makes them slightly tricky to store. On the back of the packaging it tells you the shade number, and formula type.

Availability wise the MUA £1 range is in most Superdrugs which i know of so there quite easy to get your hands on. You can also order off the MUA website, they've usually got an offer on as well you might be able to pick yourself up another bargain! Overall I can't recommend these eyeshadows enough! For £1 you get 2g's of highly pigmented eyeshadow with a great lasting power, what more could you ask for! No matter how long you've been into makeup, I would definitely advise you try out MUA eyeshadows as in my opinion are the best eyeshadows you can get.

NOTW: Union Jack Nails

Its Sunday, which means a new nail design!

This week I decided to do Union Jack nails, after seeing union jack washing up liquid in ASDA. Obviously meaning for the Queens golden jubilee, which in my opinion is slightly over rated, as in people going overboard with the whole union jack theme and what not.

But anyways I still decided to do Union Jack nails and here they are....

Products I used....
  • Sally Hansen Double Duty Base coat & Topcoat
  • Sally Hansen Insta-dri Anti Chip Topcoat
  • Barry M Colbat Blue
  • Barry M Matt White
  • Barry M Bright Red
The other hand turned out a bit sloppier, but apart from that I like this design. Barry M nail polishes have got to be my most favourite nail polishes I've ever tried, and theres loads to choose from in the range for a inexpensive £2.99!

Any ideas or requests on what design I should do next week?

Review: MUA Professional Eyeshadow Palette, Glamour Days!

Im back! Today I have a review of one of the amazing MUA eyeshadow palettes, which I'm sure most of you have heard of. But in case you haven't these palettes are available from Superdrug for £4's and MUA's online store for the same price. Today I'm going to be reviewing one of my favourite MUA palettes, Glamour Days.

Here's a closer look of the eyeshadow's inside....

The back of the palette....

It comes with a sponge applicator, but I prefer brushes

These are the swatches for the first row of eyeshadows....

The second row....

Like I said this is easily one of my favourite MUA palettes, the eyeshadows are amazingly pigmented for the small £4's you pay. The photos don't do them any justice! They are really easy to blend, and you get a more then fair amount in the pan. I think i might of got a faulty palette though, because you can tell from the swatches of the first row the 4th and 5th shade look extremely similar.

I love the range of eyeshadows in this palette, its the perfect range of neutrals, along with a pop of purples, blues and lilacs. Theres also the odd 2 matte eyeshadows crammed in the palette.  So its great if your travelling and want a everyday range of colours to choose from. These shadows last all day alongside primer, and don't fade at all.

The packaging is black plastic, like wise most of the products in the MUA Pro range. It has a transparent lid, which is great if you have a draw full of eyeshadow palettes and your trying to find the right one. Its not the most stylish packaging but it does its job, and is easily recognisable as a MUA product.

This palette is easily at the top of the list of my most used ones, and i highly recommend it if your looking for dupes of higher end eyeshadows. Which the eyeshadows from this brand easily compare to. MUA are also bringing out a new eyeshadow palette to which I'm super excited about, check their Twitter or Facebook page for more information on that.

Review: Miss Sporty Pump Up Lash Booster Mascara

This is one of my more favourite mascara's out my whole collection!

It was the packaging that hooked me into first buying this mascara, which is strange because I usually buy products based on reviews. Plus it has recently hit the shelves of Superdrug and Boots, and I was after a new volumising mascara that actually works.

This mascara only comes in one shade, Extra Black

In case you can't read it, it says:
Up To 15x More Volume
Unique Mega Brush To Help To Max Out Volume
Volume Plumping Formula Enriched In Collagen
Ophthalmologist Tested

Lets take a look at the wand.

Before...

After...

This is easily one of the more larger mascara wands I own! The length of the wand itself is on the short side, in my opinion. The bristle's on the wand are quite long and there is plenty of them, which is great for getting from root to tip of your lash's. I really like this wand and find it works great with my lashes, its really easy to work with as like i mentioned before the length of the wand is short. So you don't end up with mascara all over your eyelids.

The formula itself definitely contributes to giving the lashes the volumisied look. Even though I wouldn't say it gave "15x More volume" however i would say it gave about 5x more volume, giving you a natural but volumised look. Which for the price isn't actually that bad.

This mascara clumps slightly, depending on how much product is on the brush. As sometimes i find the formula to sort of "clog" in between the bristles. Like the tip of the mascara shown on the picture. But that can also easily be wiped of with a tissue. It doesn't flake of onto the skin, and the volumised look lasts all day. However I wouldn't recommend using this mascara on your bottom lash's, as with the big wand you might get mascara under your eye.

Overall I'm really pleased with this purchase! For only £3.99 from Superdrug or Boots, this mascara is great if your just starting out in makeup or are thinking of experimenting with a new mascara. I'm a sucker for mascara and I have always got my eye on trying new ones. I mostly end up coming back to this one though.

If I Could Only Have One....

So a while ago i saw a lot of views about this on youtube, and recently an increasing number of blog posts < wooo big word;)

Basically this post is about out of your full makeup collection, if you could only have one thing out of each section eg. eyeliner, lipstick. What would it be. I actually really like reading/watching posts/videos like this, as I love seeing what other people like best and being introduced to new products. So here's what I picked as a full.

minus bronzer because I don't wear it

So here's the face products I choose....

I didn't include primer as i just use the same one everyday so i thought there would be no point.

Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Your Skin Foundation, Ecru Beige

I really do like this foundation! Its the perfect shade for my pale skin and has great coverage. It doesn't cling to dry spots and lasts pretty much all day long. Its a very liquidity foundation so a little goes a long way, it also blends easy. I'm not sure were you can get this foundation, as i think its now discontinued, but i got this at Easter.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, Fair 1

I reviewed this concealer yesterday so I've pretty much said all i wanted to say about it. Its a great concealer, easily one of the best concealers you will find at drugstore price and it gives fantastic coverage and lasts all day.  Its very thick, but is still easily blended, it doesn't cling to dry patches either. You can buy this from Superdrug or Boots.

NYC Cheek Glow Blush, Central Park Pink

I don't wear blush that often as most other products, but when i do i almost always reach for this product. It gives a lovely "bronzed" glow to the cheeks, I definitely think this is a product that is more aimed at fair/pale skinned girls. Its easily build able, which i always look for it a blusher, and sheerly applied. Which is another thing i love about this product! Available at selected Superdrugs.

NYC Smooth Skin Pressed Face Powder, Naturally Beige

Easily my favourite powder of the moment! One of the things i love the most about this is its more of a powder to set your liquid makeup, then a powder with pigment to even out your skin tone. It doesn't make your face look powdery or chalky. Applies evenly, and lasts about 6 hours, then needs touch up. Also in selected Superdrugs.

So here's the eye products I choose....

This looks like very few.... but ok:)

Clinique High Lengths Mascara , Black

This is just sample sized, from the Clinique mascara swap but I still love this baby! It does a A.M.A.Z.I.N.G job of seperateing eyelashes and making them look really long. It certainly doesn't clump at all, I just love it so much that I would even wear it on its own, without even a volume one. It also coats the lashes with a jet black coat of mascara

Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24HR, Eternal Gold

I think I've already got a review up on this but I just love it! I was unsure about purchasing it at first in case it just creased and faded. I love how the eyeshadow applies wet then drys into the eyelid, it also feels light on your lid. Its really pigmented so a little goes a long way. I also think it looks great on people with green eyes. I haven't ever worn it for 24 hours but it did last all day. You can find this in Superdrug or Boots.

MUA Intense Colour Eyeliner Pencil, Snow White

First of I love the name of this product, it really describes the colour ( Obviously ) However it also describes the pigmentation of this product and how it applies. Its a real pigmented eyeliner for only a pound, and its really  creamy to so it applies softly to the eye. I've used this everyday since i first purchased this , and think i might go buy another one for when i run out.

Here's the Lip products I choose....

Only two, but hey ;)

Barry M Limited Edition Lipgloss Wand

Like i said its limited edition so it doesn't have a shade name, which is a shame cause i really love this. Its a pale pink shades with faint shimmers of blue, purple and sliver. I love Barry M lipgloss, like I mentioned in my review off few days ago. Its a really pigmented lipgloss, and has a great lasting power. Its very moisturising, and if it wasn't limited edition I would buy it again.

MUA Professional Lip Boom Created With Alexander Burke, Cheeky

I don't want to go into much detail, as I'm planning on reviewing it soon also when I mange to get my hands on another one of the shades Doin' Good which I'm dying to get. Let's just say you don't no what your missing if you don't own one of these. Seriously! I just can't express how great this product is, a double ended matte lipstick and highlighting lipgloss, what more could you ask for?;)

Thanks for Reading! :)xxx

Review: Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer

This is one of the products on my list of things to review, which in my opinion are must have products! Today I have for you the Collection ( Other wise known as Collection 2000) Lasting Perfection Concealer. I bought this from Superdrug for a stricken £4.19. What a bargain!

This picture look familiar? I got it from my other blog post when i first purchased this, as the writing on the concealer is now all smeared off for some reason. This is what the concealer looks like now.

I was extremely disappointed by this, as I really do love this concealer, whenever i put my fingers over the black writing and move my fingers the writing just smears everywhere making a mess on both my hands, and the tube of the actual concealer itself. I've never read of this problem on other reviews of this product, and my friend has the same one and this didn't happen with hers either, maybe I've just got a faulty one?

On with the review... in Shade "Fair 1"

The concealer has a doe foot applicator.

 Applied to my arm

 Semi-Blended into my arm

Fully blended into my arm

Apologies for the photo heavy post, if you know any good photo editing websites please let me know below?

So how good of quality is this concealer? VERY, The range of concealers consists of  4 shades. I was originally going to get Light, which is the second darkest concealer as the name fooled me into thinking it would actually be light. Once swatched in Superdrug it appeared to orange for my pale skin. So this concealer is top for pale girls.

Its a extremely creamy concealer and its quite moisturising, however its still easy to blend into the skin and gives a medium - full coverage. It works absolutely amazing on under eye dark circles, and equally works great with blemish's and redness of the skin. Collection claims that this concealer has up to 16 hour wear, I definitely agree with this! It lasts all day, so is perfect if your the "on the go" type of person. A little goes a long way with this product, you only need a small amount for ultimate coverage.

I first bought this concealer based on the great hit it had made in the beauty community, and I'm so glad that I did! I will continue to repurchase this product as it ticks all the boxes of being the perfect concealer. Overall I would highly recommend this product to anyone who's after a high quality concealer at the drugstore price.

NOTW: Bow Nails with Rhinestones

Hey Guys, my aim this week is to do a different post each day of the week as I don't really blog frequently enough in my opinion.

Anyways I just finished doing my nails about 30 minutes ago and thought I'd show you guys what I did.

This week, I decided to do Bow nails after getting inspired by a picture on google. Except I decided to add rhinestones into the centre of my bows just to jazz things up a bit. I used all MUA nail polishes for this design, except from my base coat and topcoat.

Products I used....
  • Sally Hansen Double Duty Base coat & Topcoat
  • Sally Hansen Insta-dri Anti Chip Topcoat
  • MUA Love Hearts Range I <3 U
  • MUA Love Heart Range U R FAB
  • MUA Shade 12
I really liked how this design turned out, MUA polishes are great for working with, they dry super fast and are opaque within a few coats. They are also really inexpensive so you can afford to by loads!

Review: Barry M Lip Gloss!

Guess what? I found the USB cable, never in my whole life have i been so joyful seeing a black cable. Anyways on with the review;)

I've got 4 of these babies to show you guys today and here they are!

Top to Bottom: 10, 2 , 1, limited edition

I got the limited edition one in boots a while back. 1 & 2 were given to me in a set at Christmas, and 10 i won in a contest on twitter.

Just your typical doe foot applicator...

I took 2 pictures for the swatches, one is in just the natural light but doesn't really do the lip gloss's any justice. The second is taken in front of my light up mirror, which shows them much better. I thought I'd upload both for you guys to compare.

Left to Right: Limited Edition, 1 , 2 , 10

Same order as above picture....

I really like these lip gloss's. Barry M always do seem to impress when it comes to lip gloss, in my opinion. Some of these lip gloss's seem to be slightly more pigmented then others. With shades 1 and 2 being mainly glitter based, these obviously come out much more glittery then the limited edition one and shade 10. However shade 1 and 2 could easily be worn over lipstick as a highlight maybe? Whereas shades 10 and limited edition could be worn on their own. Barry M lip gloss's have the most goregous scents ever, each lip gloss has their own individual scent.

The quality of these lip gloss's is great to! There are definitely not sticky at all, and seem to have a great lasting power. Like i said before all these lip gloss's show up more then fairly pigmented on the lips, and I find that they are actually quite moisturising too! Overall I would highly recommend these lip gloss's as the perfect drugstore lip gloss, with a price tag of only £4.49 avaible from both Superdrug and Boots.

Thanks for Reading!xxxx
I really enjoy reading your comments, so why not comment below? Or maybe even request a post :)
