July / August 2012 Monthly Empties!

So as promised my next post would be a collaborated July and August Monthly Empties. I haven't got many really as most things are about half empty, I'm hoping to have more for the next month. So these are my July and August Empties....

Simple Kind To Skin Purifying Cleansing Lotion
I loved using this Lotion as a Day time moisturiser, it worked great under my makeup. It kept my skin moisturised all day and didn't make me break out. The only thing I didn't like about this product was how you have to squeeze it to get it out, since its only got one hole when I did that I often had access product left over so it kinda wasted most of it. It would be great depoted into a bottle though.

Nivea Smooth Nourishing Hand Cream
I had a larger version of this hand cream featured in my June Empties which you can see here. This is the sample size i got at Christmas or something and only started using it a month or two ago. I loved it! Its definitely helped my nail growth as well as keeping my hands moisturised and in tip top shape. Without it for past few weeks I've definitely seen a change for the worse in my hands and I think I'll have to invest in this again or buy something else.

Barry M 3 In 1 Mascara
This is another product I've had since Christmas but only got round to using it about 3 months ago? This mascara is supposed to give you volume, length and curl. In all honesty I got none of that. Its great for applying to your bottom lashes though, due to the thin, straight, basic wand. I wouldn't deem in worthy of £6.19.

Morrison's Make Sensitive Facial Wipes
My Mum usually gets my Facial / Makeup Remover Wipes for me and she usually just gets what ever. Its like trying to remove your makeup with a Kleenex. I had to use 3 of these things just to get one face of makeup off, were I usually only have to use one. There not thick either , which is another thing I usually look for in a Facial / Makeup Remover Wipe. They tore super easy.

July / August 2012 Monthly Favourites!

So if you follow me on twitter, my links here, you will know that this month I wanted to do a collaboration of July and August favourites. As I didn't do a July favourites last month due to not having enough time, I'm going to do the same thing with my Monthly Empties in the next post. So here's what I've been loving out of my collection the past 2 months...

First to the eye products I've been into....

MUA Pro Going For Gold Eyeshadow Palette
I haven't been able to put this thing down lately! The great mix of Golds and Greys in this palette is perfect for the nearing end of Summer into the beginning of Fall. These eye shadows are pigmented, long lasting, blend able and inexpensive! You can see my full review and swatches here.

MUA Pro Gel Liner, Tribe
This was featured in a Haul a few weeks ago, but I haven't got round to reviewing it..yet! Tribe is a beautiful, bold and vibrant aqua turquoise shade perfect for those whom love wearing statement colours on their eyes. It holds up amazing with a primer and certainly doesn't lack in pigmentation. It applies a dream and I would totally recommend picking one up for only £3's.

Collection Glam Metallic Coloured Liquid Eyeliner, Grunge
This is something that's been lying in my eyeliner draw for god knows how long. Its a shame really because this is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! The fine, sleek applicator is perfect for getting really close to the lash line and creating the perfect straight line. I only needed to apply one coat to get a opaque line, which didn't smudge nor flake off.

Collection Lasting Perfecting Minerals Foundation Powder, Ivory
When they say "foundation" in the products name they weren't lying... This thing is basically a foundation in powder form! It gives shockingly amazing coverage for being a drugstore product. It also stays put all day, I originally bought this is the second lightest shade honey but then went back and got the lightest in ivory instead. I can't stress how great this product is! It saves plenty of time in the mornings and is great if your in a rush. You can see my full review here.

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder, Transparent
So of course I had to feature my newly found, perfect pressed powder! I'm obsessed with this thing, I don't think I'll ever change my powder again. It does a fantastic job of setting liquid makeup, and keeps me matte. You can see my full review here.

Collection Cream Puff Lip Cream, Fairy Cake
If you read my blog regularly you'll know that I'm a huge fan of Matt lips! This is easily one of my most favourite Matt lip products in my lips collection. It stays put for around 5 hours without needing a touch up, depending on weather you eat or drink something. It doesn't dry out my lips, the shade itself is sort of a coral. I love it! You can check out my full review here.

On a whole I've been loving MUA and Collection's products this month, they are probably now my most favourite makeup brands!

Review: MUA Pro Going For Gold Eye Palette!

This is easily my favourite palette by MUA.... Yet! To celebrate the Olympics MUA introduced a limited edition eyeshadow palette. The same as the other palettes, this costs £4 from Superdrug or you can purchase it from the MUA website here. At the moment it's on offer, with a £1 off.

Unlike the other MUA palettes, this one has square pans and only 10 shades, unlike the usual 12 circle pans.

 First Row, Shades 1-5

Second Row, Shades 6-10

Likewise all the other MUA Pro palettes, the pigmentation is fantastic, not something you would really expect from a £4 drugstore palette. The matte shades of the palette, are slightly less pigmented, yet they are still easily build able which I love! They are sooo creamy to swatch, apply and blend together with ease. This palette is mainly pearl based with the odd matte thrown into the mix, however the shimmer on some of the pearl shades is hard to believe. Shade 5 is a mix of yellow/orange/gold and is EXTREMELY shimmery.

I can usually get a full day of wear out of these eye shadows alongside primer, without they crease slightly by the end of the day, but still remain their vibrant colour. Likewise the other palettes you get a little double ended sponge applicator, which I only ever use for Nail Art. The packaging of the palette is black plastic with a transparent lid, making the eye shadows within visible.

Overall I would definitely recommend giving this palette a go! For £4 it's totally worth a try, especially if your a Gold lover like me. I love wearing Golds near the end of Summer into fall.

Review: Seche Vite Dry Fast Topcoat!

Since I'm quite a big fan of nail art, I love to be able to keep my designs as long lasting as possible. That's when a good Topcoat comes in. I've tried a few Topcoats now, but to be honest none of them have been very good. I took the plunge and purchased this one, despite the pretty hefty price tag. This Topcoat cost roughly between £9-£10, it doesn't say on the Boots website nor Superdrug.

In all honesty this Topcoats really not worth the price tag. Like I said the main reason I purchased this was because of the long lasting polish claims. I can usually get about a day or two with this Topcoat without chipping. I also found the colour nail polish I applied under the Topcoat to smear when I applied it. The packaging is about average, it does its job but not the most stylish.

However one thing I do like about this polish is the shine, the shine wears from when I first apply the Topcoat till when I remove it ( a week.) In a way it also bonds the polish together if you get what I mean? Like sort of making it all 1 layer. The dry time is excellent, way better then my last Sally Hansen Topcoat ( Review Here) It dries basically within seconds!

Overall I just wouldn't bother trying this Topcoat. For the price it certainly isn't worth what it is, for £9's in my opinion I would expect more then this. I might consider trying this as a Base coat instead as smoothing polish amazingly.

Have you tried this Topcoat before? Do you have any Topcoat's you'd recommend, let me know below :)

Tutorial: Duck Nail's!

Here's a little song to listen to while you read the post :)

So today's Sunday and the day I change my nails. This week I thought I'd do a tutorial instead of a NOTW, so this is what I came up with....

Here's what I used....

  • A piece of paper
  • Eyeshadow sponge
  • 2 Cotton Buds/ Q Tips
  • 3 Dotting Tools
  • Sally Hansen Double Duty Base coat & Topcoat
  • Barry M, Mint Green
  • Collection 2000 Hot Looks, Lemon Soda
  • Technic Nail Polish, White
  • Miss Sporty Lasting Colour Pro Brush, Fatal Black
  • MUA Love Hearts Range, I WANT U
  • Miss Sporty Clubbing Colours Nail Polish, China Glaze
  • Seche Vite Dry Fast Topcoat
First apply Sally Hansen's Double Duty Base coat & Top coat. I applied two coats for extra protection.

Next apply two coats of Barry M's Mint Green. It doesn't need to be fully opaque as you would be covering 2/3 of the nail with more polish.

Now you can start drawing your Ducks onto your nails.Pour a small amount of Collection 2000's Hot Looks nail polish in Lemon Soda onto the paper.  Using the larger end of the white Dotting Tool make two circles upon the nail, one below the other. Then using the smaller end make a dot the opposite side of the nail.

Still using Lemon Soda, make two curved lines to connect the circles together to make the duck's body like the photo below.

Now fill the shape in, once again using Lemon Soda.

Next it's time to give the Duck's some character. Using the Technic white nail polish, pour a tiny amount on the paper then make a dot using the large end of the pink Dotting Tool, on the Duck's face. Once it's completely dry, using the smaller end of the Dotting Tool, take the Miss Sporty nail polish in Fatal Black and make a dot in the centre of the white one. Taking the MUA nail polish in I WANT U, make a triangle in the middle left of the ducks face, then fill it in.

Taking the Eyeshadow sponge and the Miss Sporty nail polish in China Glaze. Pour a small amount of the nail polish onto the paper and dip the edge of the Eyeshadow sponge in. Gently sponge the polish onto the nail to give a slight gradient effect.

Now your almost done, apply a thin coat of Seche Vite's Dry Fast Top Coat. Then taking a cotton bud/ q tip, dip it into nail polish remover and wipe around your nail to remove any access polish. This makes the final look look more tidy.
Here's another look at my final outcome....

Random Mini Haul: Owl Ear Rings & MUA Pro Gel Eyeliner!

So since I haven't been blogging alot lately I thought I may as well through up a Haul post. Also as this Haul has something none makeup/nail related in it which I think I would like to focus my blog slightly more on. So here's some things I picked up today in Town.

So the one beauty related thing I got was one of the new MUA Gel Eyeliner's. I was away on holiday at the time they came out so I couldn't get my hands on one. I was also after 2 of the new lip liners, but sadly my Superdrug had none in stock. Nor did they have the space for them. So anyways I picked up this Gel Eyeliner in shade Tribe, it's a bright electric blue shade. I love bright Eyeliners! This Gel Eyeliner originally costs £3 but is on offer at the moment for £2.

So this next thing is something else I'd like to base my blog around. Jewellery! I've had my ear's pierced for many years now and only recently have i started getting back into wearing ear rings. I was craving a new pair of slightly jazzy-er ear rings other then my basic studs. These are orange owls, like seriously how cute?! They were a great bargain for only £2.50 in Claire's. Here's what they look like slightly closer up.

Review: Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder!

I finally managed to solve my laptop issue's, yay! :D

About three weeks ago I purchased Rimmel's Stay Matte Pressed Powder, when my Collection 2000 one ran out. I've never looked back since! This powder cost £3.99 and is available in both Superdrug and Boots stores and can be purchased online.

I purchased mine in shade 001 Transparent.

I've only ever stuck to the same face powder maybe twice, which was the MUA one. Then I've previously been using a Collection 2000, neither of which I have completely loved like I do Rimmels. On a whole I don't really use Rimmel products much, apart from the odd nail polish or to. This powder has definitely changed my view on Rimmel as a brand!

The thing I love the most about this powder is the formula, I usually use powders in Fair or Light shades. Which ever is the lightest shade in the line. This time I opted for Transparent, after bad experience with other powders making me look orange. The shade is perfect and doesn't change the shade of other makeup under the powder. It really lives up to it's "Stay Matte" namesake, this can usually keep me looking matte for around 8 hours. I have Combination skin and I found that this powder worked real well with that.

Packaging wise you get what you pay for, after all it is a drug store product. In my experience I had no problems what so ever with the plastic packaging. The writing also hasn't flaked off the lid which I found it did with some other powders.

Overall I would definitely recommend this product as well as purchasing this again! Its perfect for my Combination skin, Normal with a few oily patches around my nose and the odd dryness on my chin. It didn't make me break out. Its available in 6 different shades and has a great drug store price tag.

Reasons Why I Haven't Been Posting...

If you follow me on Twitter, you will know that I've been having problems lately uploading photos from my phone to the laptop. As well as having problems with Twitter actually working itself. Basically, when I try to drag over photos to my laptop is says something about there not being enough room. I've deleted most of my stuff I had saved on my laptop, but it still says the same thing.

I doubt my laptop will be working for much longer anyways as its riddled with virus's and is in desperate need to get fixed. Its pretty old to be honest and if it does break my mum said there would be no point in getting it fixed as I'm getting a new one at Christmas *YAY*

I hope to get the laptop problem fixed as soon as possible, as for once I've got loads to blog about! I go away on holiday for 2 weeks on Friday and don't get back till 10th August. So I probably won't have anything up until after then.

FOTD: The Golden Girl...

I decided that FOTD's are going to be a weekly thing now, if not more often. After last week's "Green Eyed Monster" look, I thought today I would go for something more toned down. It was really sunny this morning, and still is now but not as much, so I went for slight yellow tones and golds. With a pop of Pink on my lips. Here it is...

I have unsymmetrical lips, yes I know.

So here's the Face products I used today...
Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream, Light
Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer, Fair
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder, Translucent
NYC Cheek Glow Blusher, Central Park Pink

Eyes...

NYC Eye Lash Curler
Miss Sporty Pump Up Lash Booster Mascara, Black
Miss Sporty XX Volume Mascara, Black
MUA Intense Colour Eyeliner Pencil, Snow White
MUA Single Eyeshadow, Shade 2
Avon Glow Powder Eyeshadow, Golden Sand

I also used a eyeshadow from the Coastal Scents 88 Ultra Shimmer Palette. The shade used is marked with a "X"

Lips...

Barry M Lip Paint, 155 Pretty Pink
MUA Lip gloss, Shade 3

I only slightly patted the Lip Paint onto my lips, then blended it out with my finger. Which is why it isn't as bold looking.

Review: Oriflame Skin Care Products

I didn't know much about this brand at all before discovering them on Twitter. Here's some quick facts about Oriflame before I began the reviews....
  • Oriflame is a Swedish cosmetic's company whom have been operating in the UK for over 40 years.
  • They're a direct selling company, operated through a net work of agents that distribute catalogues in their local community.
  • Oriflame have a website which you can purchase directly from, you can find that here.
  • Not only do the sell Skin Care but they also sell Make-up, Fragrance, Body Care, Hair Products and Styling Tools and Accessories.
So basically a week or so ago Oriflame sent me some of there  Skin Care range. They sent me...
  • Oriflame Eco Beauty Smoothing Day Cream
  • Oriflame Eco Beauty Smoothing Night Cream
  • Oriflame Eco Beauty Smoothing Eye Cream
Oriflame Eco Beauty Smoothing Day Cream!

Sadly, this is probably my least favourite of the 3 products that Oriflame sent me. Don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic product! It moisturises the skin incredibly well, and certainly doesn't leave the skin looking greasy. I wouldn't say it was liquidy, it has a great balance between being liquidy and blend able. That so you don't need to use up too much product. It's certainly suitable for all skin types. It also didn't make me break out. The only problem I seemed to have with this product was that once i applied my foundation, and started to blend it into the skin. It would make little pieces of what I could only describe as dried up old foundation looking stuff on my skin. I certainly know its not the foundation, as I tried using others and didn't have this problem.

One of the things I absolutely love about this Day cream is the scent! It smells some what like Tea/Coffee, I'm not too sure which but it certainly smells like one of them. If your a Tea/Coffee lover you will adore this Day Cream! You can smell the scent when you first apply it to the skin, but once blended out its unnoticeable.

I quite like the packaging too, it doesn't look cheap. It keeps the product nice and safe, I love how this Day Cream has a pump. As personally I find these so much more hygienic then other creams, were you sometimes have to dip your fingers in to get the product out. This Day Cream costs £16.95 and you can find it here on the Oriflame Website.

Oriflame Eco Beauty Smoothing Night Cream!

Now this product, is fantastic! Unlike my Nieva Soft Moisturising Cream, this didn't leave my face looking oily and it didn't feel as heavy. It is ever so slightly heaver then the Day Cream, but not so much that I wouldn't wear it nor recommend it. It leaves my skin feeling moisturised and refreshed. Like the Day Cream, this also has the same Tea/Coffee scent, I adore it! Likewise the Day Cream, you can't smell it once it's blended out. It didn't make me break out.

The packaging is again similar to the Day Cream, except it's a more grey colour. It's quite help full though if your trying to tell them apart and are to lazy to read the writing like me;)
Once again I haven't experienced any problems with the packaging, it also has the same pump as the Day Cream. Like wise the picture.

This Night Cream costs £16.95, you can find it here on the Oriflame website.

Oriflame Eco Beauty Smoothing Eye Cream

This is definitely my most favourite of the 3 products they sent me! I have dark under eye circles, they aren't to bad, but I still feel the need to conceal them every morning. I also have slight discolouration on my lids. Using this product I have definitely saw a improvement in them, as well as my eye area on the whole. The colour of my lids seem much more even now and my lids and under eye area feels much more smooth to the touch. After applying the Eye Cream, my dark cirlces seem sort of "blurred" and less noticeable. I love the effect!

The formulation is quite liquidy, so you need a very small amount. The amount that I applied in the bottom left picture is more then enough for one application. Its incredibly easy to blend into the eye area. It didn't make my eyes sting, I don't have sensitive eyes however occasionally I come across products that do effect my eyes. So I would say this is safe for sensitive eyes.

The packaging is a squeezy tube, with the Oriflame logo. It looks quite similar to the Day Cream packaging. Except obviously it's an Eye Cream. In my opinion it certainly doesn't look cheap. The squeezy tube makes access to the product extremely easy, as well as controlling how much comes out. This Eye Cream costs £12.95 and you can find it here on the Oriflame website.

Another Tiny Haul A.K.A Two Things...

Since I mainly do small hauls on my blog and I went shopping again today. I thought why not? And thought I would upload another Haul involving two products. Both purchased from Superdrug, here's what I got.

So I've tried Maybelline's Dream Fresh BB Cream before, when they were giving away the samples on Facebook. I loved it! To be honest it's not really a BB Cream, It's more like a tinted moisturiser. But I love how it looks on my skin. It doesn't crease off or go oily around my nose, which I experience with most other face products, It's the perfect product for Summer!

I've finally hit pan on my Collection 2000 powder, and I fancied a change. I did like the Collection 2000 one, but it did make me look slightly orange, so I thought I'd try a translucent one! After reading amazing reviews about Rimmel's Stay Matte on Blogger and the Boot's website, I caved in and bought it today. I can't wait to try it out, It looks great!

    Review: Avon Supercurlacious Mascara!

I've did it again! I've went a purchased yet another mascara. However this one I got as a freebie with Marie Claire Magazine when I was on my way to Paris. I'm not too sure how much the magazine itself was as I don't often buy magazines unless they have something which I would really be interested in, like wise a article or freebie in this case.

    Here's the mascara itself...

The photo blurred, but this mascara is in shade "black".

Here's what the wand looks like...

    Here's Supercurlacious in action...

    L-R: Before, After.

Here's another picture, there is no mascara on the left eye and Supercurlacious on the right eye.

This mascara does some great stuff for my lashes! If your a regular reader of my blog you will know my all time favourite curling mascara is NYC's City Curls. But this has totally changed my opinion!

I love practically everything about this mascara! The packaging is sturdy, doesn't really stand out from other mascara's, but does do its job. I'm in love with the wand! As most of you know I love wands with plenty of bristles, especially ones that are really close together. I'm also quite keen of a slight curl to the wand, as I find this sometimes helps even out the product. This mascara ticks all those boxes! I definitely think the wand helps to the outcome of this mascara. My only complaint would be the length of the wand itself as it is quite long it sometimes makes it hard to work with.

The formula is amazing too! This is definitely a mascara that requires more then 1 coat, I tend to use 2 coats. It gives the lashes a thin coat of mascara, which I love as I'm a sucker for build able products. The formula boasts lashes to give a quite natural looking curl. It can clump, but only minimal. It depends on how you apply the mascara as long as you zig-zag the bristles through the lashes from root to tip. It didn't flake off, nor did the curl fade.

Overall I would highly recommend this mascara to others with long, straight eyelashes like wise me. This mascara performs really well, and I would easily consider repurchasing this when I run out. I'm so glad I decided to purchase the magazine.
